Download Redsn0w 0.9.5b4 to Jailbreak iPhone OS 4.0 Beta 4

Redsn0w has just been updated to beta 4 to support the latest iPhone OS 4 Beta 4firmware. iPhone OS 4 Beta 4 was released by Apple last week, which since Beta 2 has closed the jailbreak loophole used by Redsn0w 0.9.5b1 and b2 to jailbreak OS 4. But with this latest version of redsn0w, you should be able to jailbreak iPhone OS 4 again on iPhone 3G.

redsn0w 0.9.5b4
An excerpt from iPhone Dev-Team on this release is as follows.
This is a beta release of redsn0w targeted at developers of jailbroken apps. It uses the same pwnage2 DFU-mode exploit that we’ve been using since the 2.x days. Nothing new is revealed to Apple, and it’s not applicable to the iPad. Don’t go near it if you use yellowsn0w, ultrasn0w, orblacksn0w.
YOU SHOULD STAY CLEAR OF THIS BETA SOFTWARE IF YOU RELY ON A CARRIER UNLOCK. That’s because the beta redsn0w works only if your device has already been upgraded to the stock 4.0beta1/beta4 IPSW from Apple, which contains a baseband update. If you installed that IPSW, you’ve already lost the carrier unlock until the next planned release ofultrasn0w and blacksn0w.
Instructions to jailbreak iPhone 3G on iPhone OS 4 Beta 4 using Redsn0w 0.9.5b4 are exactly similar to the last release. Please read all the instructions posted here carefully before upgrading your phone to iPhone OS 4 Beta.

PwnTunes : Alternative of iTunes

Many people do not like iTunes (God knows I don’t) apparently, not everyone wants to synchronize their iDevice offered by Apple way, and yes even with only one computer. PwnTunes is an alternative for jailbroken iDevice including iPhone/ iPod / iPad. But if you’re not a hyper-organized music fan and just want a simple, no-nonsense tool to transfer some great tunes, pictures, or video to your iDevice PwnTunes is a great option.
PwnTunes is available in Cydia on BigBoss repo, once you install PwnTunes from Cydia, your iPhone / iPod Touch will be able to “communicate” with the computer directly, without using iTunes.

The developers claim that the program allows you to:
  • Drag / copy to your computer music and photos from the photo album.
  • Add music from any computer and it will be automatically imported along with the tags (artist, album, year, etc.) Tags are supported so far only for MP3 and M4A.
  • Folder var / mobile / Library / downloads, which contain downloaded using Safari files will be displayed through USB.
  • Ability to copy any files to the device and the further use of it as a flash drive.
The program is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, but hopefully only temporarily, does not support Mac OS. The big drawback for many will be the cost PwnTunes $ 12.29.

Its Time to Change Time. Its Time for Apple iWatch

Last week, we wrote about Apple iWatch concept which was designed by an Italian design house named ADR Studio. After getting thunderous response for his concept, the designer has now come up with a new video in which he shows his vision of what could be the next best thing from Apple.

He explains his concept as follows.
At WWDC 2010 Apple will announce … iWatch :
If Apple will make a great surprise to everyone?
If It will announce a brand new product?
It is obviously impossible, but ADR Studio has tried to imagine a new Apple style product, able to be with us every day.
Say “Hello” to iWatch.
Apple iWatch concept is a wrist device which features: Aluminum body, WiFi and Bluetooth, integrated RSS reader, 16GB storage (for music and pictures?), weather forecast system, connectivity with with iPhone and iPad, and an LCD projector to beam photos and videos on wall.

You Can Now Sync Your iPhone Wirelessly with iTunes Using Wi-Fi Sync App

Wi-Fi Sync is now available on Cydia for the jailbroken iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. With Wi-Fi Sync app, you can sync any of your iDevices with iTunes over a Wi-Fi network, just like Microsoft Zune.

Wi-Fi Sync for iPhone and iPad
The app was first submitted to Apple for App Store approval, but was rejected shortly after. The app is now available on Cydia for $9.99. You’ll need to install the free client app on Mac OS X to use Wi-Fi sync. A Windows version of the app will be available soon.

You’ll need to jailbreak your device using Spirit to get it working. Follow the complete step by step guide to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.

Recover Deleted Photos from iPhone / iPad After Spirit Jailbreak

The initial release of Spirit had this bug, which accidently deleted all photos from the iDevice which you used to jailbreak with it. If you were wise enough to make a backup before jailbreaking your device, you can now recover it using iPhone Backup Extractor.
Follow the step by step guide posted below to recover your deleted photos from iPhone, iPad or iPod touch after jailbreaking it with Spirit.
Step 1: Install OpenSSH on your device. Instructions for installing OpenSSH on iPad can be found here, and for iPhone/iPod touch can be found here.
Step 2: Download and install iPhone Backup Extractor.
(Download links: Windows 32-bit64-bit – Mac OS X)
Step 3: Run iPhone Backup Extractor and select the last backup which you made before jailbreaking your device using Spirit.
Step 4: Navigate to Media/Media/DCIM and select this folder. Click ‘Next’ to save the files locally on your hard drive.

Step 5: Download and install Cyberduck for Mac or WinSCP for Windows. Enter the following details to login to your iPad:

Cyberduck
  • Server: The IP address of your iPad. Settings –> WiFi –>
  • Username: root
  • Password: alpine
  • Protocol: SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol)
WinSCP
  • Hostname: The IP address of your iPad. Setting –> WiFi –>
  • User name: root
  • Password: alpine
  • Protocol: SCP
Step 6: Navigate to /User/Media/ directory and copy over the folder DCIM folder which you just extracted from the backup and to this location.
WinSCP - iPhone 3GS
Step 7: Reboot your iPhone/iPad/iPod touch.
That’s it ! you should now have all your photos back like you did before Spirit jailbreak.

Spirit Jailbreak Tool Updated. Fixes Photo Deletion Bug and Errors on Windows

he all-in-one untethered jailbreak tool, which was released yesterday has been updated. An issue which was reported earlier where it deleted all the saved photos on the device once the jailbreak was complete has been fixed. This update to Spirit resolveserror code c0000005 which some Windows users were facing.

Spirit for iPad
The official change log is as follows.
Update (May 3): I’ve updated the jailbreak tool. It no longer deletes photos (sorry!) and should resolve the issue with error code c0000005. (If you still get that error with the new version, try setting compatibility mode to Windows 95.)

Download Spirit to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3, iPad 3.2, iPod touch 3G

The all-in-one untethered iDevice jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3, iPad 3.2 and iPod touch 2G/3G is finally here. Available for both Windows and Mac OS X, Spirit is a userland jailbreak but it does not work out-of-the browser as previously thought. It is in fact a simple one click app, like Blackra1n which can jailbreak (not unlock) any Apple iDevice on iPhone 3.1.2 or 3.1.3.

Spirit on Windows for iPhone and iPad
It is also important to note here that Spirit wont unlock your phone. It is a jailbreaking tool only that will only work on devices which are activated via iTunes. So if you rely on an unlock, DO NOT upgrade to stock firmware or you’ll be stuck. Unlock for iPhone 3.1.3 on 05.12.01 baseband wont be out before the next iPhone hit the shelves. And that wont be before June/July of this year.
Make sure that you have your SHSH files saved. You can jailbreak without saving SHSH files but you wont be safe once Apple patches the exploit used by Spirit. Follow the instructions posted here to save your SHSH blobs.

Official description is as follows.
What’s Spirit?
  • Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touchon the latest firmwares.
  • Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
  • If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgradeif you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
Requirements
  • Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
  • An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes orEmergency Call screen.
  • Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
Note: On iPad, all this is still sort of beta. Some packages in Cydia, not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore. Be careful. (And no, Cydia’s appearance is not final.)
A complete step by step guide for jailbreaking using Spirit will be up soon. Stay tuned!
